Nylink Membership

Nylink membership is at the institutional level, and is open to libraries and cultural heritage organizations in New York State and its surrounding areas.

Nylink members include academic libraries, public libraries, public, school and multi-type library systems, corporate libraries, court and government agency libraries, gardens, museums and other cultural heritage organizations.

Nylink also offers membership to individuals not associated with a Nylink member institution.

The Benefits of Membership

Nylink works with member libraries to provide the most value from their membership.

Nylink membership is about choice. Here is some of what your institution has access to as a Nylink member, depending on the service level you select:

  • Customized telephone and email support
  • Staff training and development in multiple formats on a range of topics, all at a reduced member rate
  • Discounted electronic resources and other library-related products
  • Access to OCLC services including cataloging, resource sharing, electronic resources, digitization, collection analysis and selection
  • Representation in national and international initiatives and organizations
  • Representation in Nylink Council, Nylink’s governance body
  • Connections to colleagues and opportunities for networking with your peers
  • Eligibility to participate in LAND, a statewide ground delivery service
  • Nylink consulting services

Member Service Levels

  • Members at the premium service level participate in the full range of Nylink services and receive the most benefits. These members enjoy the deepest discount on Nylink training classes and conferences; receive free seats to select Nylink events; receive a professional development credit annually; are represented on Nylink Council; get an annual discount for LAND, Nylink’s ground delivery service, if they opt to participate; and take full advantage of the range of discounted services and products Nylink offers and the in-depth support and training Nylink provides. Institutions should choose the premium service level if they are actively engaged in the library community and want to get the most out of their membership.
  • Members at the standard service level participate in the full range of Nylink benefits and services on a lesser scale than premium members. These members receive a standard level discount on Nylink training classes and conferences; may opt to participate in LAND, Nylink’s ground delivery service, at the full price; and take advantage of the range of discounted services and products Nylink offers and the in-depth support and training Nylink provides. Institutions should choose the standard service level if they have ongoing professional development and support needs and want representation in the member collaborative
  • Members at the basic service level are involved at a lesser level. These members enjoy a modest discount on Nylink training classes and conferences and can take advantage of the range of discounted services and products Nylink offers. They may need less support, and can acquire access to this service, for an additional fee, as needed. Institutions should choose the basic service level if they are interested in select services at discounted member rates.
  • Individual membership is available for your professional development needs if you are not associated with a Nylink member library. An individual annual membership includes a generous discount on Nylink classes, webinars, online workshops and conferences. Whether you are a solo librarian, a student, a trustee or a retiree, individual membership may be right for you!

User support subscription

Members at the premium and standard service levels have the benefit of unlimited support from Nylink staff members.

Members at the basic level and libraries that are not Nylink members can acquire a user support subscription separately.
