Information Technology Specialist

Nylink, a multi-type library network organization that provides training, user support, and access to library information technology products, seeks a dynamic team player to help provide network, desktop and application support in an XP/Vista LAN environment that is evolving as we adopt new tools and technologies. Working with the senior LAN Administrator, the successful candidate will conduct day-to-day support and troubleshooting of desktop PCs, applications and the LAN, as well as other information technology-related activities. Additional tasks may include server management, database development, website support, and assistance in network management. Nylink has 22 people on staff.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required. A minimum of two years experience in a technical position is preferred. Strong customer service orientation, effective verbal and written communication skills, especially in technical areas, and aptitude and affinity for information technology are required.

Skills, knowledge and/or experience in using and supporting Microsoft Office 2003/2007 products, Windows XP/Vista, and TCP/IP networking is required. Some knowledge and skills in database design are required. Knowledge of Cold Fusion, PHP, ASP, ASP.NET or other database driven web programming languages is highly preferred.

Skills, knowledge, and/or experience in one or more of the following are preferred: HTML, SQL language, SQL 2000/2005 administration and programming, computer security, firewalls, open source software.
